WE HAVE WON!!!

On 16-8-2010 the Executive Comittee of the City Council of Lincoln made clear that they will not support new applications for a racecourse on the West Common. The committee recognises that Lincoln has changed in the past 40 years, and that "the West Common, in particular, no longer lends itself to this activity".

FROM 17-8-2010 THIS WEBSITE WILL NO LONGER BE UPDATED, UNLESS IT IS NECESSARY TO REVIVE IT AGAIN SHOULD THE WEST COMMON COME UNDER THREAT.

THE PAGES HAVE BEEN CONSIDERABLY REDUCED IN NUMBER.

The intense 6 week campaign has led to two new initiatives:

(1) An initiative to look at possibilities for renovating the Grandstand on the West Common:
www.lincolngrandstand.com / information@lincolngrandstand.com

Please have a look at the site, and contribute any ideas that you may have.

(2) A new website from the West Common Community Group to attend users of the Common of community activities:
www.westcommoncommunity.com / information@westcommoncommunity.com
Please read about the continuation of the picnics on the Common, a lantern walk in the autumn for young and old, and contact details for the West Common Community choir.

Also here new ideas are welcome.

We would to thank everybody who has signed our petition, and who has been actively involved in the campaign!!!
